HANK WILLIAMS (b.1923 / d. 1953) is generally regarded as the greatest country singer-songwriter of all time. His beautiful, witty, and often heartbreaking songs are a huge part of the groundwork for American country, blues, and rock and roll as it developed in the early 1950s and on. His southern charm, sense of humor, and honest voice drew listeners to him like a magnet.

When asked how he wrote a song, Hank said: "I just sit down for a few minutes, do a little thinking about things, and God writes them for me. I listen to people and try to understand how they feel about things. Feelings about things...that's what songs should be about."

"To me, Hank Williams is still the best songwriter." - Bob Dylan
